This is kind of random, but I've often thought about how bizarre it is that high school students spend hundreds of hours learning forms of advanced math and other subjects that will be of no use to them (not to mention sports) while not learning essential skills for functioning as an adult in this capitalist society. Why isn't, I don't know, a quarter to a third of education time spent on helping people (especially less privileged ones) acquire the skills they need to thrive? What would you add to the list?
