Jay Michaelson is an award-winning journalist who has been writing about Israel/Palestine since 2002 — in the last four months alone his work has appeared on CNN, and in the Forward, Rolling Stone, and the Daily Beast. He lived in Jerusalem for three years, participated in several Palestinian-Israeli dialogue projects, and has spoken at J Street and other progressive Zionist conferences. He is also a rabbi and meditation teacher.
This program will focus not on why one point of view is correct, but on how holding any point of view can coexist with the awareness of other narratives and experiences, rather than demonizing them. With the rise in Islamophobic and antisemitic incidents and rhetoric, and with deep divisions within the Jewish community alone, this is an invitation to explore ambivalence, disagreement, and coexistence.
