Rabbi Professor: Neo-Hasidism as Spiritual Bricolage

at Van Leer Institute

Jerusalem, Israel

This lecture discusses two aspects of the scholar-practitioner synthesis in neo-Hasidism: first, how scholar-practitioners integrate non-Jewish elements into a contemporary spiritual movement with pragmatic aims in mind, and second, how they balance competing academic and practical priorities, in particular with respect to the priorities of experience and text.

Part of a two-day seminar on “The Study of Kabbalah: Continuity and Development” held at the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem.
