In the last thirty years, gay men from a variety of religious traditions have attempted to create a “gay spirituality movement” based on the distinctive perspectives of the gay male experience. Â In this workshop, we will explore some of the leading exponents of this movement, including Harry Hay, Toby Johnson, and Christian de la Huerta, as well as some of my own ideas on the subject. Â Are there special gifts to being gay? Â Or does the question suppose an essentialism that we might prefer to avoid?
